Update: And it is still not fixed! C’mon MC!

Earth Hour 2009

Stop the spam!

Thankfully something that has been available in more civilised countries has finally come to South Africa! You know those highly irritating calls you get from time-to-time: “Sir, we would like to tell you about blah-blah-blah”

No matter how many times you say now the call center just keeps on phoning! Well – that time is over! Register yourself with the DMA’s (Direct Marketing Association of South Africa) DCM (Don’t Contact Me) database.

This will notify all members of the DMA that you don’t ever want to get one of those sales pitches again. And if they do call you you can go complain!

Hurry and go register on their site here!

New 15.4 inch “brick” mac’s announced

I have been following the live “broadcast” of the new Mac notebook event and I want one!

Apple has invented a new process where they take a wad of aluminium (brick of metal) and they forge a casing out of a solid block of aluminium (or is it aluminum?) to make an enclosure for a new Mac OS based PC.

YES PC, a PERSONAL COMPUTER, not a PC as in Windows Based OS.

Steve and Crew tout their success on the inclusion of BootCamp to dual boot OS X and M$ Apps to bootcamp and they claim that for every 3 dollahs spent $1 is spent on Mac hardware.

I love my Mac, as I type this I am typing it on Vista on my white, plastic, MacBook. I am a convert but I boot back to Vista when I need to post a blog here and need to be serious.

Apple, you have me semi converted… Need to get me confident to post this from OS X…

Air Mouse for iPhone released

The clever devs at RPA Technology have launched Air Mouse. This app turns your iPhone into a 3D mouse and works with Windows and Mac OS.
I paid $5.99 and really think it worth it to have a cool WiFi mouse to control my Macs and PCs via wireless from anywhere within wireless range.
No more getting up to press next on Eons notebook plugged into the HD TV! YAY!

iPhone plugin for WordPress now available

Yay! Now we can blog on the fly! Check out http://iphone.wordpress.org

Enough said…..

Mbeki recalled by ANC, Kgalema Motlanthe to be his successor

It has been an interesting weekend here in ZA. The ANC National Executive Committee met on Friday and Saturday and I waited anxiously for the announcement on Saturday afternoon. They have decided to recall President Thabo Mbeki.

An email from his office to the press announced that he will resign “once all constitutional requirements are met”

He issued a public statement last night stating that he has submitted his resignation to the speaker of parliament.

President of the ANC, Jacob Zuma said that Kgalema Motlanthe (the deputy president of the ANC) would make a good candidate for new president.

Natalie Du Toit – our hero!

You know – with only one leg she showed the able bodied athletes how it can be done! 5th medal won! Good job Natalie – you make us proud to be South African. You go girl!

Maybe we should just invest in amma-krokko-krokko and let the able bodied athletes work for a change.

Coming for a visit!

Hi-ho! I’m off to San Francisco again for 3 weeks on Sunday. Just in time to miss the hectic heat wave here in Johannesburg. It is hard to believe that last year this time it was snowing here, and now we have daily temperatures in the high 30’s.

See you soon USA – just a 35 hour flight away *ouch*.

On the one hand I’m missing “the City by the Bay”, but on the other I’m going to miss the family and friends back home. At least only for 3 weeks.
